Integration with Moves
Optimized automatically translates all the recorded data into your personal insights by mining the existing correlations: How does walking affect your sleep? Which exercises influence your weight most? How does your work affect your health? How do other people influence your mood? Optimized answers all of these and many more questions to help you make positive changes in your everyday life.
Ari will provide you with your first correlations after 7 recorded days. If you are using the activity tracker Moves since more than a week, you will be able to see the correlations right after your first synchronization with Optimized. The more Quantified Self you track, the more insights you will get - and the more accurate they will be.
Optimized distinguishes between activities and items to simplify the analysis and interpretation of Lifelogging data. Activities are things you do during the day for a significant amount of time, like Work or Sleep. Items are Quantified Self parameters which are entered only once a day and are mostly unrelated to time, like Weight or total amount of Water you drink. Recorded activities end up on a timeline whereas items are kept separate in your profile screen.
This is up to you. You may start with a few activities, like Sleep, Work and Gym. Or you may decide to lifelog your entire day. Depending on your preference, Optimized offers you an extended list of activities and the option to define your own activities in the Customizer tab.
This is up to you as well. The pre-defined list of items includes Weight, Stress Level, Glasses of Water and Health Status (how well you feel during the day). Both Stress Level and Health Status are subjective assessments but still offer interesting insights, especially in connection with other Lifelogging data.
Optimized integrates data from activity tracker Moves, which automatically recognizes Walking, Running, Cycling, Steps, Calories Burned and Locations you visit. See Integration to Moves section for more details.
The stopwatch function is only available if the date in "Recorder" is set to "Today".
Yes, if you already record one activity with a stopwatch just tap on another activity from the list.
After you've recorded a number of activities, Optimized is able to predict which activity you are most probably going to do next based on your Lifelogging data. Tap on one of the suggested activities to start recording it or tap next to the message to cancel it.
Tap on the pie chart in the middle of the "Recorder" screen to see your Lifelogging Timeline.
In the list of recorded activities swipe the activity you want to delete, tap "x" and confirm with "Delete".
"Days lived" is calculated based on your birthday. This entry is not included in any analyses and serves solely for comparison with "Days recorded", which calculate the number of your Lifelogging days available.
Integration with Moves
Go to "Settings", tap "Connect to Moves" and "Allow". When connecting to Moves for the first time, it may take up to 2 minutes to transfer your data. For daily data transfer tap "Sync" button in the upper right corner in "Recorder". To obtain the most recent data always update Moves first before synchronizing with Optimized.
Tip: The best way to synchronize Optimized with Moves is once a day in the evening.
Walking, Running, Cycling, Transport, Steps, Active Calories and Locations are transferred from Moves. Locations are automatically translated into activities based on their Foursquare category. For example, your time spent in the office is automatically translated into "Work", your time in a restaurant is translated into "Dining out", etc. This way, your Lifelogging data is categorized for you automatically.
Optimized only transfers an activity from Moves once this activity is finished. For example, if you are still at work, Optimized doesn't add "Work" to your timeline upon synchronization with Moves. However once Moves records that you are walking out of the office, you are able to transfer the activity "Work" to Optimized.
Due to high traffic requirements we decided to limit the initial data transfer from Moves to the past 1 week.
Optimized translates locations from Moves into activities based on their Foursquare category. Every location in Moves needs to be categorized (Restaurant, Movie theater, etc.) before synchronization with Optimized. Otherwise it appears as "Unknown" on Optimized's timeline.
Walking inside a location is counted as "Steps" but does not appear on your timeline to prevent double-counting. For example, if you spend your time in a golf club, Moves will also count Walking within the club. Upon synchronization, Optimized transfers this as "Golf" activity and adds the steps to your profile screen.
Go to "Customizer" tab and tap the category to which the item belongs, then tap "Items" and select the item from the list. You can change item's name, unit or delete it with "x". To delete an item directly from the list of items swipe it, tap "x" and confirm with "Delete".
Go to "Customizer" tab, select the category to which the activity belongs and tap "+" in the upper right corner. For each activity you can define a number of attributes like "Distance" for Running or "Productivity" for Work.
Go to "Customizer" tab, select the category to which the activity belongs and tap on the "Icon" button in the middle.
Go to "Customizer" tab and then tap on "Social". To delete or edit a group, tap it and then tap it again in the “Change group” screen. To delete or edit a person, tap the group it belongs to and then tap person’s name in the list.
By deleting an activity type or item in "Customizer" all the associated data will be deleted as well.
There are multiple ways to do it. Ari automatically tells you about your goal performance in the second message. Tap on one of the five Lifelogging categories below Ari and select the activity type or item from the list to see your progress. If your goal is related to an activity, you can also check it directly from the "Timeline" screen of activities by tapping the activity and then the "Ari" button. If your goal is related to an item, you can also check the goal performance directly from your profile screen screen by tapping the item and then "Ari" button.
I have set a weekly goal for an activity - why does Ari tell me that I achieved it after a single activity?
Ari automatically recalculates your goals from weekly to daily once. For example, if your running goal is 2.5 hours a week, Ari will note its achievement as long as you run at least 22 minutes on any particular day.
Currently, this is not possible. However you can define an item for this activity and track the number of times you accomplish it per day.
Go to "Ari" tab, tap on one of the five Lifelogging categories below Ari and select the activity type or item from the list to see the correlations. To access this screen directly from "Recorder" tab select any recorded activity from the timeline and tap the "Ari" button.
Ari automatically searches through your Quantified Self data to find correlations. However this analysis requires at least 7 days of data and a correlation coefficient of ±0.15 (±15%) between the two parameters. Ari shows you a correlation in your Lifelogging data only if both requirements are met.
The daily average and the goal performance are calculated based on the last 7 days lifelogged. The growth trend for activity types, items and mood compare the average of the last 7 days with the average of the previous 7 days. The correlation analysis includes a longer period of time.
Correlations indicate that two parameters may influence each other or are both influenced by a third parameter. For example if you get a positive correlation between the time you sleep and your mood, you may think of sleeping a bit longer to improve your mood during the day. However you can never be sure if the relationship is causal.
Yes, if you start a new type of exercise, change your job or your relationship, you will see new correlations already after a week. This way you can always learn about the impact of your behavioral changes on your Quantified Self and adapt accordingly.
Go to the "Timeline" screen, tap the activity and then on the "Chart" button.
Go to the profile screen, tap the item, then tap on the "Chart" button.
Go to "Analyzer" tab, tap "Line chart", tap the four colored dots in the upper right corner, then tap "+", under "Category" select "Social" and under "Type" select "Mood".
Go to "Analyzer" tab, tap "Line chart", tap the four colored dots in the upper right corner, then tap "+", under "Category" select "Social" and tap on the group or person in the "Group" or "Person" list.
It recalculates all the values in percent of their average over the displayed period of time. This feature allows you to display parameters with different units on the same line chart.
Go to "Settings" tab and tap "Export data" - Your data will be exported to CSV format. Data export may take up to one minute depending on the amount of data.
We have plans to port Optimized to Android but our timeline is not fixed yet.
We consider integration of further wearables and tracking apps as one of our major tasks. We prioritize them based on the user feedback we receive.
